Kindergarten Learning Games

Seven free games for kindergarten, covering counting to ten, reading number words, and everyday vocabulary. Free, browser-based, no account.

Kindergarten is the year two things start happening at once: numbers become quantities rather than a rhyme, and letters start forming words a child can recognize on sight. These games sit on both sides of that.

Counting Games for 5-Year-Olds

• Count to 10 – The core counting range for kindergarten. Ten is where most curricula expect confident counting by the end of the year.
• Count up to 5 – Useful review, and a good starting point in the first term.
• Count up to 3 – For children still building one-to-one correspondence.

Number and Word Recognition

• The Numbers – Read a number word, click the matching numeral. Worth knowing: one, two, and eight are spelled nothing like they sound, so a child carefully sounding them out will get them wrong every time. These have to be learned whole, which is exactly what this game does. Audio included.

Vocabulary Games

• Fingers of the Hand – The names of the five fingers, plus counting on the hand.
• Family Vocabulary – Listen and click the right picture.
